NEW DELHI: INS Teg, currently on her operational deployment to the South West Indian Ocean Region, arrived at Port Louis, Mauritius, for a port visit from 19 to 22 June 2025. The visit includes joint surveillance of the Mauritian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in coordination with the Mauritius National Coast Guard (NCG) ships and aircraft.
This initiative reaffirms India’s commitment to ensuring the safety of global commons and combating Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, while also strengthening cooperative maritime security in the region.
As part of the visit, the ship will commemorate the International Day of Yoga 2025 on 21 June with a joint yoga session onboard. The session will see participation from the Indian Navy, the NCG, and members of the Indian diaspora, showcasing unity and wellness through shared cultural values.
INS Teg, a stealth frigate of the Indian Navy’s Western Fleet, was commissioned on 27 April 2012. During her stay in Port Louis, the ship’s crew will engage in professional and social interactions, harbour training for NCG personnel, community service, and friendly sports events. Upon arrival on 19 June, the ship’s Commanding Officer paid courtesy calls on the Commissioner of the Mauritius Coast Guard (COMCG), the Commissioner of Police, and the Secretary to the Cabinet, reinforcing India-Mauritius maritime cooperation.
NCG personnel will receive training onboard INS Teg in various naval disciplines, including fire fighting, damage control, and basic seamanship. Meanwhile, the crew of INS Teg will be familiarised with NCG facilities to foster mutual understanding and interoperability.
The port call by INS Teg aims to enhance bilateral ties and promote shared goals in maritime security and regional cooperation.
