New Delhi: Gurdas Singh, arrested by the Special Cell from Uttarakhand in connection with a shooting at a property dealer’s office in the Mansarovar Park area, was allegedly spreading the ideology of slain Khalistani terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and pro-Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, sources close to the investigation told The New Indian.
A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) also interrogated him and is conducting a parallel investigation. Singh has been taken to Chhattisgarh to identify the recipients of the videos he sent, which may lead to further arrests. The Special Cell recovered videos and photos of Bhindranwale from his phone, which he had been sharing with others.
Upon learning that Singh was promoting Khalistani ideology through Bhindranwale’s videos, security agencies decided to question him separately, leading to the NIA’s involvement.
Sources said Singh has ties to anti-national and extremist elements, including Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. “He is promoting the ideology and inflammatory statements of the late Bhindranwale and the wanted extremist Pannu. By sharing their propaganda, he demonstrates dangerous support for their cause,” the source added.
There are suspicions that Singh may be affiliated with a terrorist organization.
Background of the Case:
On June 6, acting on a tip-off, the Special Cell arrested Singh in Uttarakhand. He was wanted for a shooting at a property dealer’s office in Mansarovar Park and had been evading arrest. A non-bailable warrant (NBW) was later issued by the Karkardooma Court.
Police recovered a pistol from his motorcycle’s toolbox in Dilshad Garden and a photo of him holding a gun from his phone. The motorcycle was reportedly stolen from Sagarpur.
