NEW DELHI: Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood assured parents on Monday that they could directly file complaints with him if they find any irregularities in the ongoing verification process for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota admissions.
According to an official statement, the document verification for EWS admissions is currently underway, with 6,192 documents verified so far for students selected through the computerized lottery held for nursery, KG, and Class I admissions.
The verification is being conducted across designated centres in 29 zones under the Directorate of Education.
Sood emphasized, “If parents face any irregularities or lack of transparency during the verification process, they can file a complaint directly with me or visit my office to register their grievances.”
He further reiterated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Education Department is working diligently to ensure transparency in the admission process.
Out of more than 2 lakh applications, 44,045 children’s names were drawn through the computerized lottery for admission. As of now, 7,042 parents have visited the verification centres from March 6 to 10.
A total of 4,878 children have been issued admission tokens, while 1,291 parents received notices for incomplete documentation.
Sood also urged parents to remain vigilant against corruption and warned, “If anyone demands money in exchange for securing admission in private schools under the EWS quota, parents should immediately report the matter to my office.”
The statement highlighted that during the verification process, discrepancies were found in the documents of four students, leading to the rejection of their applications.
However, the minister reassured that the government’s priority is to ensure that no deserving child is denied their right to education.
