NEW DELHI: A push to India’s defense manufacturing sector, Alpha Tocol Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd., a Bengaluru-based private company, has delivered the first rear fuselage for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk1A to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
The handover ceremony took place at HAL’s Aircraft Division in Bengaluru, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in attendance.
Rajnath Singh hailed the event as a pivotal moment in India’s journey toward self-reliance in defense manufacturing. He emphasized that the collaboration between public and private sectors is crucial for strengthening the nation’s defense capabilities.
Singh stated, “Together with these Indian components, the aircraft which is being manufactured in our defence and aerospace sector will reach greater heights in the times to come.”
Role of the Rear Fuselage
The fuselage serves as the main body of an aircraft, housing the pilot, passengers, and cargo. The rear fuselage specifically supports the tail section and its associated components, making it integral to the aircraft’s structural integrity and performance.

Public-Private Collaboration
He emphasized, “While our courageous air warriors have made an invaluable contribution, the equipment being manufactured indigenously is providing them the added strength, with which they protect our borders.”
HAL has engaged multiple Indian private companies to supply major modules for the 83 LCA Mk1A aircraft contracted for the Indian Air Force (IAF). These companies include Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Alpha Tocol Engineering Services, Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. (TASL), VEM Technologies, and Lakshmi Machine Works (LMW).
This collaborative approach aims to enhance production capacity and meet delivery commitments from 2025-26 onwards.
Empowering the Indian Air Force
The Defence Minister also acknowledged the valor of India’s air warriors and the role of indigenous manufacturing in equipping them with advanced technology. He remarked, “Our air warriors safeguard the nation with unparalleled dedication. The advanced equipment produced by Indian companies is further empowering them in this mission.”
The successful integration of private sector manufacturers like Alpha Tocol Engineering Services into the production of critical aircraft components signifies a robust move toward self-reliance in defense. This development not only strengthens the capabilities of the IAF but also showcases India’s growing proficiency in indigenous defense manufacturing.
The event was attended by Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, Member of Parliament Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi, HAL CMD Dr. D.K. Sunil, CEO and Director of Alpha Tocol Wing Commander (Retd.) Baran Sen, along with senior officials from VEM Technologies, L&T, TASL, and LMW.
