NEW DELHI: A restaurant in South Bengaluru has caught the Internet’s attention with an unusual request for its diners. A sign inside the eatery instructs visitors to avoid discussions about real estate or politics while dining.
A user on X shared a photo of the sign, which reads: “This facility is only for dine-in purpose, not for real estate/political discussions. Please understand and cooperate.” Captioning the post as “Clear instructions alright,” the user’s tweet quickly gained traction, sparking a wave of reactions.
Many social media users pointed out that such signs are not uncommon in Bengaluru. Some noted that these messages often appear in restaurants where customers tend to occupy tables for long durations while ordering minimal food. Several users recalled seeing similar notices in well-known eateries across the city.

One user expressed frustration over loud conversations in cafés, saying, “Good, I want to punch them when I see them in CCD… Absolute morons, no common sense of public decency… Keep talking rubbish loudly… 10 ppl enter, order 5 coffees, and bring the roof down…!”
Another user noted that the practice exists elsewhere, writing, “I remember A2B restaurant in Yelahanka also has a similar board.”
However, not everyone supported the rule. Some felt it was unnecessary to control what diners talk about. One user questioned, “Weird, why does he have to police what people are talking? They are paying for the food they eat, no?”
Bengaluru is no stranger to quirky moments going viral. Recently, a matrimonial advertisement in Nayandahalli grabbed attention for a hilarious typo. Instead of reading “Bride and Groom Information Centre,” the sign mistakenly said “Bride and Broom Information Centre.”
