SRINAGAR: The Central Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is dedicated to ensuring a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted on Tuesday.
Presiding over a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar, Shah instructed the Border Security Force (BSF) to enforce absolute infiltration prevention along the international border. He directed the force to enhance surveillance through advanced technology, bolster border security measures, and maintain strict vigilance.
The Home Minister also instructed the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to sustain close coordination with the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police while executing its responsibilities in the Union Territory.
Reviewing the CRPF’s winter security strategy, he emphasized eliminating any gaps in security dominance, particularly in the Jammu region and strategic high-altitude areas.
An official statement reiterated Shah’s commitment to eradicating terrorism in J&K under PM Modi’s leadership. He underscored the crucial role of paramilitary forces in achieving this goal.
Shah also evaluated the intelligence framework operating in the region, directing officials to expand their network for gathering actionable intelligence.
Stressing the role of technology in intelligence operations, he urged agencies to enhance their monitoring mechanisms.
Highlighting key security concerns, Shah identified cracking down on terror financing, curbing narco-terrorism, and dismantling the entire terror infrastructure as top priorities for the government.
He reaffirmed that stringent measures were being implemented under the “Zero Terror Plan” to completely neutralize terrorist elements in J&K.
Additionally, he instructed officials to counter misleading propaganda by anti-national forces by ensuring accurate information reaches the public.
He emphasized the need for inter-agency coordination, technological advancements, and improved intelligence-sharing mechanisms.
Directing all security agencies to remain on high alert, Shah assured them of full governmental support in the mission to uproot terrorism from the region.
Tuesday’s meeting followed a series of high-level discussions held on February 4 and 5 with the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and other senior officials were present at the meeting, the statement added.
