NEW DELHI: In the Delhi Cantonment area, the ruling AAP is facing challenges as residents express dissatisfaction, stating that its candidate is not well-known and that the party has failed to provide clean drinking water.
The BJP has fielded Bhuvan Tanwar, son of former MLA Karan Singh Tanwar, while Congress has nominated retired Brigadier Pradeep Kumar Upmanyu. Virender Singh Kadian is contesting on an AAP ticket.

Preet Inderjeet, who runs a stationery shop, said that Congress candidate Upmanyu is the most popular among residents.

He pointed out that a major issue in the cantonment area is the inability to build houses freely. “We receive random notices from the cantonment board for any construction. Even the MLA cannot help us with this,” he said.

Rahul Yadav, who runs a coaching institute, said that AAP candidate Kadian is more popular than others.
“Since this is a cantonment area, we don’t face many problems,” Yadav said. “AAP will grow further after the election.”

Anil, another local resident, noted that many army personnel and their families come from different states, emphasizing the need for better facilities.

Navoday Prasad predicted that voter sentiment would shift two days before the election.
“We don’t get clean drinking water. The water we have is not drinkable, so we must fetch it from nearby areas. We have been suffering for the past 25 years,” Prasad said.
The election is on February 5, and the results will be declared on February 8. For a long time, the BJP held this seat, but for the past ten years, AAP has been in power. This time, the election is expected to be interesting.
