Japan plane engulfed in flames after airport collision, 379 miraculously survive | Watch

A Japan Airlines plane caught fire upon landing at Tokyo’s Haneda airport. The incident involved a collision with a coast guard plane after taking off from Sapporo. 

The shocking visuals aired on NHK, a news broadcaster,  showed flames emerging from the aircraft’s windows and underneath it, with the runway also catching fire.

The plane, identified as Japan Airlines Flight 516, had taken off from Sapporo and reportedly collided with a coast guard plane upon landing at Haneda, NHK reported. Despite the alarming situation, all 379 passengers and crew on board were successfully evacuated, as confirmed by the airline.

“We are currently assessing the extent of the damage,” stated the airline in response to the incident, emphasising the need for a thorough evaluation.

The flight, which departed from New Chitose airport at 4 pm local time and was scheduled to land at Haneda at 5:40 pm, witnessed multiple fire trucks rushing to the scene. The TV footage showcased emergency services battling the blaze as smoke and flames engulfed the plane.
