NEW DELHI: Assam Hockey earned a hard-fought 2-1 win against Hockey Association of Bihar in Division B at the 15th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship.
The match started with both teams showing strong defensive discipline. Assam Hockey pressed high but struggled to find the breakthrough in the opening quarter. The game remained goalless until the 29th minute when Captain Munmuni Das successfully converted a penalty corner to give Assam the lead just before half-time.

The third quarter saw a determined effort from Hockey Association of Bihar, but Assam’s defence remained solid. Bihar created a few chances but failed to capitalize on them. The game opened up again in the final minutes when Assam doubled their lead in the 59th minute through another penalty corner, this time converted by Khushboo Prajapati.
Just a minute later, Bihar responded with a goal from Nusrat Khatoon, giving them a glimmer of hope. However, Assam held on to their lead and secured their first win of the tournament. With this result, Assam Hockey have opened their account, while Hockey Association of Bihar remain winless.
Division C Results
Hockey Andhra Pradesh recorded a 4-2 victory over Hockey Jammu and Kashmir in their Pool B match. Andhra Pradesh started aggressively, with Revathi Thalari scoring in the 3rd minute. She doubled her tally in the 17th minute, giving her side an early advantage.

Jammu and Kashmir responded in the 10th minute through Rajni. However, Andhra Pradesh extended their lead in the second half with goals from Harathi Lomada (36’) and Madugula Bhavani (45’). Anju Kumari (57’) scored a late goal for Jammu and Kashmir, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.
In another Pool B match, Le Puducherry Hockey dominated Hockey Arunachal with a convincing 6-1 victory. Jayaprtha S starred with a hattrick (13’, 39’, 41’). B Deepika (4’, 22’) and S Subasri (40’) also found the net. Hema Navait (5’) was the lone scorer for Arunachal.
