NEW DELHI: The 15th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2025 is set to take place from 1st March to 12th March at the Tau Devi Lal Hockey Stadium, Panchkula. This year, Hockey India has introduced a promotion and relegation system, making the tournament even more competitive.

A total of 28 teams will compete in three divisions: Division A, Division B, and Division C. This format ensures that teams have to perform consistently to stay in their division or earn promotion to a higher level.

In Division A, 12 top teams, including defending champions Hockey Haryana, will battle for the championship trophy. The teams are divided into four pools of three teams each. The top two from each pool will qualify for the quarterfinals on 9th March. The semifinals will take place on 10th March, and the final is scheduled for 12th March. The bottom two teams from this division will be relegated to Division B next year.

Division B consists of nine teams divided into two pools. Unlike Division A, there will be no knockout rounds. Instead, the top two teams in the league standings will be promoted to Division A for the next edition, while the bottom two teams will drop to Division C.

Division C has seven teams competing in a league format. The top two teams will earn promotion to Division B for the following year.

Hockey India President Dr. Dilip Tirkey said that this format will help improve the overall standard of the game. Secretary General Shri Bhola Nath Singh added that the new system will make every match crucial.

The tournament promises non-stop hockey action and a high-stakes battle for promotion and survival in the 15th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2025.
